Alabama sherrifs given $1.75/day to feed inmates, Profit

In Alabama a law passed over 80 years ago is still in-effect, giving county sherrifs only $1.75 per inmate per day for food. According to this law, anything left over can be kept by the sherrifs and despite the law being hopelessly out of pace with inflation 80 years later, some sherrifs still manage to turn a profit at inmates' expense.
